Gong Minji (Born January 18, 1994), or simply Minzy, is a South Korean recording artist and dancer. She was born in Seoul, South Korea, but moved to Gwangju shortly after. At the age of 11, she was discovered by YG Entertainment's Yang Hyun-suk through an online video clip of her dancing. In 2009, she became a member of the girl group 2NE1.
On April 5th, 2016, YG Entertainment announced her departure from the group to pursue a recording contract somewhere else. She has since debuted as a solo artist, under Music Works Entertainment. Debuting with her song Ninano on April 20th, 2017.
